1. Is there anything I can do about my neighbor, who allows his/her dog to bark at all times?: You may want to contact them personally about the barking. It is much better to get to know your neighbors, but if you feel uncomfortable in doing so, you may file a telephone complaint with the Police Department. The CSO or Police Officer will attempt to contact the owner in person or will leave a written warning at the residence. If several attempts fail to correct the situation, you must be willing to file, in person, a formal criminal complaint listing witnesses. It is also recommended you keep a noisy animal log for at least one week. The animal owner will then be issued a summons and you and your witnesses will be required to testify in municipal court.

2. Who do I call if I see dogs running loose?: You may call the Lone Tree Police Department during normal business hours of 8:00am to 5:00pm, Monday through Friday at 303-339-8150. After hours calls will automatically be transferred to dispatch.

3. How do I find out if my animal has been impounded?: Every attempt will be made to return your animal to you as soon as possible. All animals should be wearing a rabies tag and/or some form of identification. In addition, it is recommended that animals have microchips. This procedure is safe and relatively inexpensive. If an animal is turned over to officers and they cannot readily identify the owner, the animal will be taken to the Buddy Center in Castle Rock.

4. Is there a “Pit Bull” ban in the City of Lone Tree?: There is a municipal ordinance, 10-7-90 Unlawful keeping of Pit Bulls, which prohibits any person to own, possess, keep, control, maintain, harbor, transport or sell within the City Of Lone Tree any Pit Bull as defined.
Those “Pit Bulls” living in the City Of Lone Tree prior to February 18, 2006 were registered and are allowed to stay. There are restrictions made on the owners of these dogs. Once these dogs die or move away the owners cannot obtain other Pit Bulls.

5. How many pets may I keep in Lone Tree?: The number is limited by residential zoning ordinance 16-2-170. You may keep no more than a combination of four (4) animals with no more than three (3) of any one (1) species that are more than 4 months of age.

1. What is the entry deadline?: Friday, October 7, 2011 at 12:00 a.m.

2. What are the categories?: Oil, Pastel, Water Media (acrylic and watercolor), Mixed Media (pencil, colored pencil, charcoal, collages or a combination) and Sculpture.

3. How much does an entry cost?: Entry into the Art Exhibition is $35. It is the same price for one, two or three entries.

4. How do I enter?: Artists must submit entries via callforentry.org (CaFÉ TM) only.

5. I have never used CaFÉ. How do I apply?: Visit www.callforentry.org. Click on “First Time Users Register Here” in the upper right hand corner. Then click “Click here to register with CaFÉ ™”. Agree to the Terms and Conditions. Complete each of the required fields and click “Register Now”. You will then be able to upload up to 150 digital images of your artwork. You can then search various national and local calls for entry, including the Lone Tree Art Exhibition, and select specific artwork for a specific call. 6. How is my art work being judged?: Your digital files will be juried by online at CaFÉ TM. Selection criteria will depend on the juror’s preference. Awards will be juried based on the art work and the final presentation of the artwork, including framing, title, etc.

7. Who is this year's juror?: Pat Fostvedt is a signature member of the Rocky Mountain National Watermedia Society and of the Colorado Watercolor Society. She has served as juror for numerous art exhibits, performs critiques for art groups, conducts workshops and has taught classes in oil, pastel, casein, gouache, transparent watercolor and mixed watermedia. Ms. Fostvedt's experience also includes ten years as an illustrator for Botanical Interests, Inc.

8. How should I label my image?: Title, artist last name, category, and dimensions (HxW).

9. Do I have to include the dimensions, I have not framed my art work and do not know the final dimensions?: Yes. Exact dimensions are appreciated, however if you have not framed your art work, please provide your best estimate.

10. What is an Artist Statement and do I have to provide it?: Your artist statement is a brief biography of yourself, your artwork and general information where the public can view and purchase your works of art. It is not required that you provide an Artist Statement, however artist statements will be available during the eight week show at the Lone Tree Arts Center and may assist in promoting your work.

11. Can I bring bin work for sale?: Yes. Each artist may provide up to six bin works of art for sale only during the reception. Artists must bring the bin work and bin work form to the reception at 2:30 pm on November 12, 2011. Staff will place bin work in bins throughout the reception. You may bring your own bin, however you still may only bring up to six bin works of art.

12. How do I sell my artwork?: All sales of juried images and bin work will take place through the Lone Tree Arts Center. A 20% commission will be taken by the City of Lone Tree. Please consider adding 20% into your sales price. If your artwork sells, you will be notified not to pick up your artwork. The artwork must remain on display through the end of the Exhibition, December 31, 2011. Buyers can pick up the artwork on January 4, 2012 from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

A sign permit is required for all permanent signs, most temporary banners, and signage associated with temporary uses. Refer to Chapter 16, Article 29 of the Zoning Code.

A sign permit is not needed for certain temporary signage meeting specific requirements. Please refer to Chapter 16, Article 29 of the Zoning Code to determine which signs require a permit.

1. What if I move, and don't receive a court notice?: You are responsible for notifying the court at the above telephone number of any change in your address. Failure to notify the court may result in missed court dates and subsequent fines.

2. What happens if I miss my court date?: If you are scheduled for court and neglect to appear, you have 10 days to contact the court and reschedule your court date. If you do not contact the court, a warrant for your arrest or a default judgment will be executed by the court.

Failing to appear before the judge is considered contempt of court, and any fines issued by the judge will be in addition to any fines you may incur from the original offense. The judge may also order your incarceration for contempt of court.

3. If I have a large fine to pay, can I pay it off a little at a time?: You may apply to the court for a time-payment plan. Failure to comply with the terms of the time-payment plan may result in a warrant for your arrest.

10. Do I have to be a Lone Tree resident or member of the Lone Tree Photography Club to participate?: No.

11. What is Bin Work and how many may I bring?: Bin work typically includes smaller images of your photography that can fit in a 2' bin and is for sale. If accepted into the Photo Show you may bring up to six pieces of bin work to sell at the opening reception only. You must complete a bin work form, deliver it upon arrival at the opening reception and take unsold bin items at the end of the opening reception.

12. Can I bring my own bin?: Yes you may provide your own bin. However, you still must submit your bin work form and provide the bin work only during the reception. Bins will be provided for those who do not have or wish to bring a bin.

13. Can I drop off my images earlier or pick up my images at another time?: No. Photograhers must commit to providing images during the designated drop off time (February 29, 9am-6pm) and pick up images during the designated pick up time (May 2, 9am-6pm).

14. What is the Lone Tree Photo Club Book for purchase entitled Exploring the Light?: The Lone Tree Photo Club will compose a book titled Exploring the Light, containing all of the accepted entries into the 2011 Lone Tree Photographic Art Show and Sale. Your accepted entries will be printed in the book along with your name and brief description of how and where the image was captured. Exploring the Light is available for purchase and will be mailed to you in softcover $49.95, hardcover $59.95 or printer hardcover image wrap $62.95. If you do not want you accepted imaged printed in this book, you must check "no" on the prospectus. To learn more, please visit www.lonetreephotoclub.com.

15. How do I opt out of Exploring the Light online book for print?: In order to not have your accepted images printed in the online book for print, you must indicate 'No' by checking the box on the prospectus entry form or the box on the line entry form.

16. What must I do to participate in the Exploring the Light online book for print?: In order to participate in the Exploring the Light online book for print, first you must indicate "Yes" by checking the box on the prospectus entry form or the online entry form. Second, you must complete and submit the Exploring the Light Image Questionnaire that is available at www.cityoflonetree.com/photoshow. You may upload this form to the online entry form or mail it in with your mailed submission. Please note, the camera information on the Exploring the Light Image Questionnaire is optional. However, you are required to complete your name, image name, explanation behind the photo. Your biography on the form is greatly appreciated but not required.

My image contains my name or signature, will it affect the jurying process?: It is preferred that all submitted images electronically and accepted into the Photo Show do not have the photographer's name on the image for jurying purposes. However, if your image does contain your name, it will be covered up for the jurying process. Keep in mind that the juror will consider the finished piece including the quality, image, and frame and the covered up name may affect the juror's opinion.

Single-stream recycling allows customers to mix recyclable paper, plastic and glass in one bin. Recycle bins are available by calling Pro Disposal at 303-791-3827 or stopping by the Lone Tree Municipal Office Building at 9220 Kimmer Drive, Suite 100 during normal business hours.

Red Light Enforcement Program

1. How much is the civil penalty?: The civil penalty is $75 for each offense.

2. How do I contest my violation?: If you feel that you have an excusable defense or you were not the driver of the vehicle at the time of the violation, you must request a review in writing. All review requests MUST be made within 15 days of the issue date. All written requests or inquires must include the following:
• A legible copy of your notice with the information on the affidavit of non responsibility completed, if applicable.
• A legible copy of your vehicle registration
• A legible copy of your driver’s license
This information should be mailed to Violations Processing Center, P.O. Box 12129, Scottsdale, AZ, 85267 or faxed to 1-480-990-4819.
The affidavit and supporting documents will be reviewed and a determination made regarding identity of the driver or the circumstances of the violation. Keep in mind that providing an affidavit will NOT automatically result in the closure of this matter. If further information is required, the Lone Tree Municipal Court will notify you. Any false representations may subject you to criminal penalties.

3. How do I view my violation?: You can view the images that were taken along with a short video of the violation by logging onto www.violationinfo.com. You will need the notice number and PIN number that are printed on the front of your notice, on the top right corner in the red box. If you do not have access to the internet, please contact the Lone Tree Police Department at 303-339-8150 to schedule a time to view the violation. All of these instructions are also printed on the back of your notice, should you need to refer to them at a later time.

4. How much time do I have to pay my Notice of Violation?: You must pay the civil penalty on or before the due date on your Notice of Violation. The due date for
payment is located on the top and bottom right of your Notice of Violation. Failure to respond a notice may result in the issuance of a Summons and Complaint with personal service at an additional charge. Once personal service has been made, your appearance in court will be required.

5. Will I receive any points on my driving record for this violation?: No, the civil penalty will not be recorded on the registered owner’s driving record.

Snow Management

1. Why doesn't the City plow my street when they go by?: Routes are plowed on a priority basis with arterials and collectors being our top priorities. Clearing priority roads opens routes into all residential areas, usually within a few blocks of each residence.

2. After I cleared my driveway and sidewalk, snow was plowed into them. Who is responsible for clearing it?: Residents are responsible for clearing driveways and sidewalks. We cannot provide an exact time when operators will plow your road; and it is impractical for us to change the angle of the blade to avoid driveways. If we did, snow would be left in the street.

3. What if I have an emergency and my street isn't plowed?: If an emergency situation occurs, call 911. Equipment will be diverted for emergencies only when requested by an emergency service agency or the Police Department. The Police Department has constant communications with our staff during storm conditions. It is a crime to make a false emergency request.

11. I just found out that Lone Tree residents are exempt from city sales tax for auto purchases and I think that I might have paid them. What can I do?: Yes, there is an exemption of City sales/use tax (1.8125%) on all vehicles registered to a Lone Tree address. Your first step is to confirm that you paid the Lone Tree city sales tax by reviewing your vehicle bill of sale. If you did pay Lone Tree city sales tax, the next step is to contact the dealership and speak to a title clerk. The title clerk is responsible for sending all taxes collected to the appropriate county motor vehicle department. Any City sales taxes mailed to the Douglas County DMV would have been rejected because they are aware of this exemption. The rejected payment is mailed back to the dealership. The dealership would then be responsible for issuing the refund of overpaid City sales tax. If you financed any portion of the vehicle, this refund would be sent directly to your finance company. If the purchase was 100% cash paid then the refund would be issued directly to you, the purchaser.
The City never receives this sales tax revenue from the dealership. Colorado is a point of registration State, meaning dealerships collect for all points of registration and make payment of the taxes collected directly to the DMV and not to the jurisdiction for which it was collected. As a result, the City has no ability to refund the overpaid tax.
