Parks and Recreation

Surrounded by the natural beauty of Colorado, Lone Tree provides a wealth of outdoor recreation activities. A vast network of hiking and walking trails help residents stay fit and connected.

For indoor recreation, Lone Tree residents are invited to participate in South Suburban Park and Recreation District (SSPRD) programs at the district member rate. SSPRD currently has three recreation centers among its many facilities, including the Lone Tree Recreation Center which opened in May 2004. Each center offers a variety of health and fitness programs as well as nature and wellness courses.

Whether you’re looking for fitness classes, a concert to attend, a trail to hike or golf course to play, you can find it as a Lone Tree resident. Find additional recreation facilities in this section of the City's website.

For outdoor activities, check out the Rueter-Hess Reservoir (RHR) which is nestled in the sandstone-rimmed bluffs and Gambel Oak valleys of north eastern Douglas County. Abundant in history and rugged landscape, the reservoir is an invaluable water resource to residents in Douglas County, and soon will be home to countless recreation opportunities.  Learn more at
