The City Council established the Youth Commission in 2009. The Commission is comprised of not more than seven and not less than five members, all of whom are residents of Lone Tree and are currently enrolled in 8th-12th grade. Members are appointed by the City Council for two-year staggered terms.
The Youth Commission’s purpose is to act in an advisory capacity to the City of Lone Tree’s City Council on matters pertaining to the youth and teen population in the area.
Mission
- Advising the city on matters pertaining to youth and youth interests in Lone Tree
- Encouraging, recognizing and promoting the value of young people in our community
- Obtaining resident input on youth issues
- Performing such other functions pertaining to youth issues as directed by City Council
- Promulgating rules for the establishment of offices and committees and preparing bylaws for their operation, subject to City Council approval
- Recommending programs, initiatives and resources for youth
- Reviewing those city matters referred to it by the City Council or Staff, as appropriate, and making recommendations on those matters
